Get started - HERE developer portal

This section outlines how to quickly get started using the EV Charging Stations API on the HERE developer portal.
  1. Get a HERE Account
  2. Create a new project

Note: This section provides information on the minimum setup required to quickly begin using the EV Charging Stations API. For more detailed information on HERE account setup, project creation, service linking, app registration, and authentication, see the Identity & Access Management Developer Guide.

Get a HERE Account

If you are an individual developer who has signed up for one of the plans listed on our Developer plans page on developer.here.com, you received a HERE account ID when you signed up. You can use your HERE account to log in to developer.here.com to create applications. Applications (uniquely identified by an app ID) enable development with HERE products and services.

Create a new project

To create a new project, follow these steps:
  1. Sign in to the HERE platform platform.here.comusing your HERE account.
  2. Open the Projects manager from the launcher.
  3. Enter a name for the project. Project names don't have to be unique.
  4. Enter a project ID. Project IDs must be unique within an organization and cannot be changed for the lifetime of the organization. Project IDs must be between 4 and 16 characters in length.
  5. Enter an optional description.
  6. Click Save.
Note: You do not need to link EV Charge Points API service to your project. The default configuration will give you access to the service.

Get an API Key

To get an API key, follow these steps:
  1. Sign in to developer.here.com.
  2. Click your name, select Projects, and then choose your project from the list. Your project details and available application credentials are then displayed.
  3. Click Create API key to generate a maximum of two API keys for your application. The API key is created and displayed.

Send a Request

This section provides an example of a request for a list of charging stations within a specified search geometry.

In this example, the user wants to find a charging station with an IEC 62196-2 type 2 (Mennekes) connector for an electric vehicle within 5km of latitude 52.516667 and longitude 13.383333, which is in Berlin, Germany. The latitude and longitude values are in WGS 84 format.

Note: The following example uses an authentication token. For more information on authentication tokens, see the Identity & Access Management Developer Guide.

The following code block demonstrates the complete request, specifying that the response data is to be delivered in JSON using a bearer token.

  • Information about the charging stations.
  • Information about the connectors at charging stations.
  • Detailed information about the connectors at a charging stations.
