Cost Management stores data in catalogs, which are a collection of data that is managed as a single set. Catalogs contain layers representing different types of data.

Layers

In the case of map data, layers can be overlaid spatially to construct a complete digital map. A layer is a set of partitions of a specific data type, functional property, and structure. Each layer relates to a set of billable services which accrue costs when used. See Layers for more information. For example, a catalog may contain a map that includes layers for road attributes, topology, and signs. While catalogs often contain geospatial data, catalogs can contain any type of data.

Pipelines

Pipelines also contain billable services which accrue usage costs based on the amount of data used and measured in Gigabytes (GB). A pipeline is an executable data processing application designed to run on a streaming or batched processing framework. This application is commonly referred to as a pipeline, because it channels the data input through a defined sequence of manipulations and transformations which have a single end point.
