HERE Lanes Release Notes

Limitations

HERE Lanes Native (Production Catalogs)

This section documents limitations that affect applications and/or map data related to HERE Lanes Native in Production Catalogs.

  • This HERE Lanes catalog includes some lane attributes and/or schemas from HD Live Map that are out of scope for the HERE Lanes product definition. They will be filtered out in a later release:
    • Lane Boundary Marking Lateral Offset
    • Lane Boundary Marking Material
    • Lane Boundary Marking Width
    • Lane Adjacency
    • Lane Stopping Location
  • For certain attributes, only the schema is available, but no data; see list above.
  • Specification Compliance Identifier definitions will likely change in the future as we further evolve the HERE Lanes Product.
  • Lane Access Characteristics are assigned only on a subset of the Spec 1 coverage on Limited Access roads.
  • Lane Boundary Marking Style:
    • Spec 1: Solid, Dashed, Alternate Dashed; double markings.
    • Spec 4: Solid, Dashed; double markings.
    • Autogenerated content: Solid, Dashed, Alternate Dashed (if available in SD Map); double lane markings (if available in SD Map); no lane markings in intersections.
  • Lane Speed Limit: Assigned on only a subset of the Spec 1 coverage on Limited Access roads.
  • Lane Type:
    • Lane Type "Bus" is not included
    • Inclusion for other Lane Types:
      • Spec 1: All types except Bus on a subset of the scope. On the remaining scope: Drivable Shoulder, HOV, Regular (if other lane types are present), Other, Unknown; other lane types if available from auto-generated content.
      • Spec 4: Bicycle, HOV, Reversible, Regular (if other lane types are present), Other, Unknown; other lane types if available from autogenerated content.
      • Autogenerated content: All types if available in SD Map; no lane types in intersections.
  • Road Boundary Type: Only type "Gore" is included with limited coverage and quality. This attribute is under evaluation for future inclusion.
  • Lane Boundary Traversal is based on Lane Boundary Marking Style. In the future, additional logic is targeted to be implemented for:
    • Specific Lane Types like Drivable Shoulder Lanes and Center Turn Lanes
    • Non-Drivable Lanes and Medians
    • Lanes with an opposite travel direction
  • The following roads do not include lanes:
    • Walkways and Pedestrian Roads
    • Bicycle Paths
    • Ferries
    • Parking Lot Roads
  • The following roads might include lanes: Alleys

HD Live Map Viewer

The CIT HDLM Viewer is available for basic coverage and feature visualization of HERE Lanes content. However there are currently some limitations:

  • Visualization of some new HERE Lanes features (e.g. Road Surface Markings) is not supported. However, the textual representation of all lane attribution is visible in the "All Lane Details" panel.
  • The "HAD Compliance" overview is not currently available for HERE Lanes, but will be supported in an upcoming update.
  • Only the "Layer Data Sizes" tab of the Product Statistics view is supported for HERE Lanes. Attribution statistics will be added in an upcoming update.
