Railway Crossing Type

Definition

Crossing Type indicates if the Railway Crossing is protected with a barrier or unprotected without barriers.

Usage

The type of Railway Crossing can be used for map display or to generate specific driver alerts when approaching a railway crossing, indicating that the Railway Crossing is protected or unprotected.

Specification

  • Crossing Type is applicable to Railway Crossing.

  • Crossing Type is applied as follows:
    • Railway Crossing Type = "Protected" is applied if the Railway Crossing is protected with a barrier, as seen in the following figure.

    • Railway Crossing Type = "Unprotected" is applied if the Railway Crossing is not protected with a barrier, as seen in the following figure.

  • If a Traffic Sign indicating a Railway Crossing exists, then two conditions are applied per driving direction. One condition indicates the location of the Traffic Sign and one condition indicates the actual Railway Crossing.
