Camera Type

Definition

Camera Type indicates which type of camera is present at a location.

1 Speed
2 Red Light
3 Section End
4 Section Start
5 Red Light and Speed
6 Bus Lane

Usage

Camera Type can be used to determine the corresponding driving behaviour that is being monitored and/or penalised at a location.

Specification

  • One Camera Type is applied on each camera.

  • Camera Type is applied according to the following:
    • Unknown - applied when Camera Type is not known or not available.
    • Speed - applied when a camera targets only drivers who drive faster than the legal speed limit as they pass the location.
    • Red Light - applied when a camera targets driver who drive through a red light.
    • Section Start and Section End - applied when a camera targets only drivers who drive faster than the legal speed limit, based on average speed over a certain distance.
      • Section End indicates the end of the measured distance and should be used in combination with Section Start.
      • Section Start indicates the start of the measured distance and should be used in combination with Section End.
    • Red Light and Speed - applied when a camera targets driver who drive through a red light and/or drive faster than the legal speed limit as they pass the camera.
    • Bus Lane - applied when a camera targets drivers who illegally drive on bus only lanes.
    • Distance - applied when a camera targets driver who drive too close behind other drivers (also known as tailgating).
