Cartography Metadata Layer
The Cartography Metadata layer publishes feature type descriptions, categories and coded values in English and optionally in other languages (not initially in scope) for the Cartography Layer. The message definitions are defined in meta.proto.
Feature Type | Describes the type of cartographic feature. The feature type descriptions are embedded in the metadata descriptions. Examples: 1900403(Airport), 2000123(Golf Course). |
Display Class | A classification of features that enables a meaningful display of specific features. The classification is assigned according to the importance of the associated feature. |
1 | Display Class (1) is applied to water features displayed on world overview maps at an approximate scale of 1:50.000.000. |
2 | Display Class (2) is applied to water features on commercial maps at an approximate scale of 1:25.000.000. |
3 | Display Class (3) is applied to water features displayed on commercial maps at an approximate scale of 1:10.000.000. |
4 | Display Class (4) is applied to water features connected to one of the higher Display Class values (1-3). |
5 | Display Class (5) is applied to water features connected to one of the higher Display Class values (1-4). |
6 | Display Class (6) is applied to water features connected to one of the higher Display Class values (1-5). |
7 | Display Class (7) is applied to water features connected to one of the higher Display Class values (1-6). |
8 | Display Class (8) is applied to unnamed water features and water features with Expanded Inclusion coding. |
