Postal Area Boundaries Layer

The Postal Area Boundaries layer publishes postal area boundary polygons and centroids of these postal areas (The postal area centroids are calculated).

Postal area boundaries are generally representing a subset of the postal code, defining an area.

Two variations of boundaries are available;

  • Non-generalized with water holes – Postal boundaries with water features larger than 5 square kilometers cut out. This layer is not spanning.
  • Generalized without water holes – spanning set of postal area polygons

The postal area boundaries do not have gaps or voids in postal coverage, even if such a gap may exist in reality (such as a remote mountainous area). This is by design, for aesthetic purposes and to ensure that a postal code is assigned to all geographic areas.
