Places (Search) API Developer's Guide

This document describes the main features and characteristics of the Places (Search) API component within the HERE Platform. Specifically, it describes the entry points, main elements, critical resources and other key aspects of the RESTful version of the Places (Search) API. Other API delivery types (such as Web APIs like the Maps JavaScript API, or Native APIs like the Hybrid Places (Search) API), while still incorporating some RESTful principles, can offer slightly different or additional functionality.

This document is intended for API users with beginner to expert levels of knowledge and experience with APIs . As such, the document contains in depth descriptions of the main entrypoints via headers, their elements, and the responses for each in the JSON open standard. In addition, this document explores the functions of common use cases, and exceptional or important use cases. To help orient new clients, at the beginning of the document there is also a quick synopsis of the HERE Platform and the Places (Search) API role within that platform along with an explanation of how the REST API differs from other Places (Search) API offerings.
