Public Transit API Developer's Guide

Coverage Service

Coverage Service is used for providing detailed information about the regions and cities available for public transit. The example below shows a cities coverage, and the mandatory parameters required in the request:

The example below requests the information for city coverage.

Note that in order to make a Next Nearby Departures request (which requires a station ID) you must first make a station search request to get a list of station IDs.

https://cit.transit.api.here.com/coverage/v1/city.xml
?app_id={YOUR_APP_ID}
&app_code={YOUR_APP_CODE}
&chinaconfig=0

By default, the following information will be returned:

  • A maximum of 2000 cities. The number of cities returned can be restricted by the max parameter in the request.
  • Each city will contain the following details:
    • Name, longitude and latitude of the city
    • Distance in meters to the location in the request (if one is provided)
    • Country and State the city belongs to
    • Number of trasit lines and stops available in the city
    • Operators providing the transit service in the city

You can further refine the coverage results by submitting the requests with these optional parameters:

  • radius parameter specifies a radius in meters that when combined with a centerpoint defines the area of the coverage
  • details specifies if the detailed city information should be returned (population and operators)
  • nearby_max enables the separate list of nearby cities to get the list without any details

For a complete set of these parameters see Coverage Service.
