Public Transit API Developer's Guide

Next Nearby Departures

Next Nearby Departures is used for showing departure information from a given station. To make a next nearby departures request, the following mandatory parameters are required:

  • your authentication credentials, app_id and app_code (see Acquiring Credentials for more details)
  • station ID
  • the coordinates of interest
  • and time of the request.

The example below requests departure information for all transits departing from a specified station at a given time.

Note that in order to make a next nearby departures request (which requires a station ID) you must first make a station search request to get a list of station IDs.

https://cit.transit.api.here.com/metarouter/rest/boardservice/v2/stationboard
?app_id={YOUR_APP_ID}
&app_code={YOUR_APP_CODE}
&stnId=720390568
&time=2017-04-11T08:00:00

By default, the following information will be returned:

  • A maximum of 40 departures relative to specified time from the station in the request (as well as nearby stations) will be shown. The number of departures returned can be restricted by the max parameter in the request.
  • Each departure board will contain the following details:
    • Departure time
    • Name and ID of the transit stop/station the service departs from
    • Name and number of transit service
    • Type of the transit service
    • Direction or Head-sign of the service
    • Optionally, line color of the service line.

You can further refine the route results by submitting the requests with these optional parameters:

  • max specifies the maximum number of next departures included in the response
  • strict boolean parameter specifies if the departures will be included only for the given station ID or also for the equivalent stops

For a complete set of these parameters see Next Nearby Departures.
