Data Organization

If you want to inspect data visually and structurally, it is important to understand how it is structured in the HERE platform. The data that is stored in the platform is organized into catalogs that contain layers. These layers are further broken down into partitions.

Each platform resource has its unique identifier – HERE Resource Name (HRN).

The image below shows the high-level structure of catalogs:

• Catalogs: A collection of one or more data layers related to each other. For example, all layers of a given catalog might align to the same version of a map. While catalogs often contain geospatial data, catalogs can contain any kind of data. All catalogs are versioned.

• Layers: Layers offer a way to segment data based on such semantics as road signs or road topology, lifecycle versions, and schemas.

• Partitions and map tiles: In HERE tile partitioning, layers contain rectangular geographic tiles that represent an area of a map.
